Kitty fostering [Nov. 15th, 2007|12:26 am]
My foster kitties, Fluffmuffin and Biscuit, were adopted and delivered to Burnet, TX. on Sunday. They now live in the lap of luxury in a fantastic home overlooking Lake Buchanan. They have their own wing in the house with their very own air-conditioner and sunroom. We all should be so lucky. Their new people are wonderful and already love them very much. I now have their sisters, Cookie and Candy. Cookie is a black/white tuxedo, and Candy is a tortoiseshell. They both need to be peopleized. Both are very playful. Cookie is a lot spooky. I hope I can gain her trust and calm her down and teach her to be trustful. Candy just needs to calm down. I sure do love fostering!!

Kitty fostering [Oct. 4th, 2007|10:38 pm]
[Current Location |Buddy's hot and stuffy office]
[mood |enthralled]
[music |How much is that kitten in the window]

I have two new little part siamese kittens who are six weeks old. They are really cute and fuzzy, and I call them Fluff Muffin and Biscuit. They are adorable and so playful! Their playroom is in the bathroom, and I sit in there and watch them until my bottom hurts from the tile floor. I'm loving the foster thing.

So, I'm adopting Bunny, AND I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ANYTHING ABOUT IT. She is just too loving and wonderful to have someone else adopt her. No one else would love her as much as I do and she loves me back. She is my huge success in fostering. She started out really fearful and doing little silent kitten hisses, and now we have lovey times several times a day and she sleeps with me at night. I love her!! AND, Buddy is good with it.

Life is good.

What's going on with me [Aug. 23rd, 2007|01:16 pm]
[Current Location |Buddy's stinky office]
[mood | hopeful]
[music |how much is that kitty in the window]

We got our new bed today. It's heavenly!!!! I probably won't want to get up for at least a month. Mastered the duvet cover but will probably be too hot for a while unless we up the air conditioner to freezing...

Also, I'm starting my foster care for kitties today. Amy thinks I'll get too attached but I think I can manage it. I may just get boy kitties because they are supposed to be more loving, but, in my opinion, they end up with urinary, kidney, bladder problems more than females. So, I'll just get them a good start, enjoy the loving part, and pass them on to good homes. Sounds like a plan....

haircut [Jun. 6th, 2007|09:16 am]
I got a haircut yesterday. I wanted it to last for a while so I told the haircutter to do it really short but I still wanted to look like a female. Well, I shouldn't have to go back for a while, but I look a lot like Matt when he has a little hair. Actually, I look like I escaped from a concentration camp. I expected himself to hate it and say something negative about my sexual preferences; however, he surprised me and said he liked it. He surely is my soul mate.

Owl [May. 3rd, 2007|09:26 pm]
[Current Location |in the bloody awful hot office]
[mood | happy]
[music |bird songs]

We have an owl in our tree in the front yard. The poor tree is all full of holes; however, an owl has decided to reside in one of the holes which makes me extremely happy. We had an owl family in our backyard tree a number of years ago...three babies. So, I'm extremely excited to have one again. Laura and John gave me an owl house for Christmas; but it is soooooo big, I think it's going to take several people to put it up. I think it may be for a bigger owl than is in the front. I'm not sure what kind of owl it is but it has ears. I think I may have seen a baby fly out tonight but himself thinks it was the original owl. I spotted it a couple of weeks ago. It's been sitting in the same place for days. It leaves at night but usually comes back during the day. Tonight I saw it sitting in a hole at the end of one of the branches. I hope there's babies and I'm pretty sure there are going to be since the adult is there so much. This is the happiest I've been in a long time. There's also a starling nest in the tree and I saw the baby a few days ago; however, it's a large baby. I think starlings are the ones who feed their young forever. The youngsters follow the parents around and wait to be fed. Personally, I think the babies should be able to feed themselves when their old enough to be hopping around after the parents. That's just my own personal observation. There is also a dove in a nest in the tree in the back, but it's on the side of the house. She's been sitting there for a pretty long time. I've felt sorry for her lately with all the rain. It doesn't look like a very sturdy nest and it's not very big but maybe doves only have one or two babies. Our bird houses on the house have babies. I sure hope they make it over the pool when they leave this year. It breaks my heart to find baby birds in the scuppers. I always have little funerals for them. The purple martin house has a sparrow nest in it. The top floor blew off when we had really strong winds a couple of weeks ago and I set the top back on but it's not real sturdy. The sparrow came back and seems to be taking care of the nest. We're going to have to revamp the whole birdhouse after this season. I have yet to have a purple martin move in. Starlings tried to move in this year but I removed their nests before eggs were laid. We have a blue pool float in back of the shed that has a rolled headrest and a sparrow built a nest in it and was sitting on it for a while. But one day I went out and she was gone and the eggs were gone so I guess something got them.

I guess that's about all I can remember right now. I've tried to find another "grandworm", but I haven't found any this year. They sure are cute.

It's finally over...except for: [Jan. 3rd, 2007|11:26 pm]
[Current Location |the usual]
[mood | exhausted]
[music |a dirge (?)]

Well, the holidays are over; however, we still have the big bowl game, Dallas and whoever is left, and the Superbowl of course. I''m pretty tired of football. I've tried reallly hard to be a Dallas fan; however, they make it really hard to be one. I don't think Bill Parcells is really into the game anymore. He mostly just stands there looking bewildered...unless someone on his team does something good, and then he kisses and hugs everyone. He really doesn't shout much or get emotionally involved. He should kick TO everytime he drops the ball and yell at Romo when he does something dumb. I don't understand how they can be so good for a couple of games and then be so bad. I just don't understand it. However, I don't know how Indpls. could lose to Dallas. I will keep on trying to be a Dallas fan until Parcells leaves and then maybe I won't. I'm a closet Indy fan, not because I'm from there but because I like Manning. I love most of his commercials.

Christmas was fun but very tiring. After Christmas, I had a luncheon for a few of my lady friends which was a giant success. We all agreed that Robert Redford is old, but we still think he's sexy. Probably we would put a sack over his head, but his body is still nice.

We had a very small party on Friday after Christmas to get to know the guys across the street and to fix up another guy across the other street with a lady friend of ours. That didn't work out. You know, when you have a very small party and someone doesn't come, it becomes a VERY VERY small party. It was fun though. We used to have large parties, but I don't like doing that anymore. There were so few people at this party that everyone got to sit on the furniture. We got new furniture about Thanksgiving. So, it was nice to have a party with new furniture. Probably it's the last new furniture that we'll have during our lifetime. (Just living room)

Before Christmas, Amy told me that she and Matt were not eating meat anymore. Plus, John can't eat meat, cheese, chocolate, and a bunch of other stuff so dinner was a challenge. I fixed a potato and artichoke and shrimp fritata. It had red peppers on the top (actually the bottom which became the top when you flipped it) but it didn't have a great deal of taste. I couldn't find the right peppers, until tonight when we went to Spec's booze shop and they had Piquillo peppers in a jar. So I bought some and thought I'd try putting them on polenta and bake them. Might not be good but it might. (I'm tired and need to go to bed but I've started this and intend to finish it. I haven't posted for a while except about the Boise State game and I'll probably forget stuff if I don't get it down) Anyway, I also made Cow Patties which are chocolate and almonds and raisins and I thought they were really good. It's candy. and it's super easy which is a good thing. The fritata was a little complicated and the handle came off of the skillet when we took it out of the oven and tried to figure out how to turn it over without dropping it on the floor. It was kinda pretty but, as I said before, not real tasty. I hope by next year everyone is eating turkey. I made German potato salad for the party and it was pretty good. My mom always had German p.s. with ham at the holidays and I've missed it.

So, the holidays are over and I can not cook until next Thanksgiving. Hopefully, Amy will have Thanksgiving at her house next year and it won't be as stressful. Buddy's mom had a meltdown the last time we had Christmas at her house, and I think I know how she felt. Stress is more stressful when you get older. Plus, knowing what moms and grammas go through is more appreciative when you get there.

I'm going to shut my fingers up and go to bed. Happy New Year!!

Fiesta Bowl [Jan. 2nd, 2007|12:06 am]
We just watched the best football game I've seen in forever! Boise State beat Oklahoma in a great game. It was exciting right to the end. I never thought I'd stay up until midnight to watch a football game...and ENJOY it...but I sure did! YEA BOISE STATE!!!!!

[mood |TIRED OF BEING SICK]
[music |Oh Holy Crap!]

Well, I hope I'm well in time for Christmas. Once again, I got the crud before Thanksgiving and it's still going strong. I HATE THIS!!!! The only maybe bright spot is that maybe I won't be sick for Christmas. HOPE, HOPE, HOPE AND PRAY!!! Hope the rest of the family stays well as well. I'm getting masks, and the next time Buddy gets sick, I'm wearing masks and moving into the guest room.

Probably Amy is sorry that she's in charge of the Christmas Lists by now. It really helps, Amy, and I'm sooooooo glad you did and are doing it. Thank you extremely much.

Now if I could just get out and do the shopping. Laura and I went to the Gem and Mineral Show where I coughed and coughed and made Laura even more nervous than she already is. I need to learn to keep my mouth closed. Forever!! I had a great time. Sorry Laura.

I love Christmas. Hopefully this year won't be as hectic. Didn't I say that last year? I REALLY MEAN IT THIS YEAR!!!!

jINGLE dINGLE!!

(no subject) [Nov. 2nd, 2006|05:25 pm]
A little orphan kitty is coming to our house to stay, to play with Alice all the time and scare the bugs away.

She's tan and brown, part siamese, but doesn't howl or whine (we hope), she's loving and very purry, already a pal of mine.

She comes from Homeward Bound, a kitty rescue group, she didn't like her cage at all, it was too much like a coop.

She's three months old and quite a love, and I hope she stays that way,
She cuddled on my neck a lot, tried to eat my earrings away.

Next Thursday's when she'll be here, that's November 9, you know,
I don't know how I'll last that long, I really miss her soooooo.

So we need to find a bed, bowl, little kitty food and all her round-abouts, so the goblins won't get her, if we don't watch out.

And Little Orphan Kitty says, when the day comes near, and they bring her over to her bed, don't you worry or fear, She's gonna mind her mama and her daddy fond and dear, and pray for other kitties and dry the orphan's tear, and think kindly on her foster folk who took very, very good care, And the goblin's won't get her...They better not dare!!!!

Based on the poetry of James Whitcomb Riley, better known as the Hoosier Poet. Sorry about that Mr. Riley.

I tried to send a pic but I don't know how.

Forest Mage [Oct. 21st, 2006|06:24 pm]
[mood |grrr]

I finished reading Forest Mage by Robbin Hobb. I've not liked this series as much as all the other ones; however, by the end of FM, I'm really looking forward to the next one. BEWARE THE FOREST!! Hehehe

How about them Longhorns! With about 2:45 to go in the game, himself said "I don't think they can pull this one out." I yelled at him, Buddy! Where's your school spirit! You gotta have faith! Don't give up on them! Plus more. Well, by the end of the game I felt like I'd won the game all by myself! Shame on Buddy. He gives up way too easy. I guess I've had a lot of practice with my D.C. Sometimes, I'd just like to kick him in the pants. BUTT, he's my soul-mate.

DEPARTED [Oct. 16th, 2006|09:59 pm]
[mood | grateful]

Buddy and I went to the movies today and saw "Departed" We really enjoyed it but I came out with a headache and we had to discuss it for a long time. It's about 'rats'. Everybody in film was good and there were a lot of names in it. It was a good escape.

I forgot to say how much I appreciated Buddy taking Tabby to her reward for me. I just wasn't up to it this time. He can be such a wonderful husband...my soul-mate, and most of the time I love him very, very much.

Tabby [Oct. 15th, 2006|01:29 pm]
[mood | sad]

Buddy took Tabby to the vet yesterday to be put to permanent sleep, and he said she died in his arms while waiting to be done. I hope she's chasing butterflies with her sister, Kitty. Tabby was 17 years old. She never seemed to be in pain...just worn out. I'm sad but relieved. I don't think I'll try to do hospice again.

The Best Little Creamery in Texas [Oct. 11th, 2006|10:16 pm]
[mood | excited]

Buddy and I went to the Bluebell Ice Cream Factory today. We toured and then had a very generous scoop of ice cream. YUM!!! We had a perfectly wonderful day looking for antique shops and found a nursery where they were growing tomatoes in greenhouses and we got to pick our own. YEA!! We also picked peppers (not a peck) but we bought 3 lbs of tomatoes. Got to get some good moz. cheese and have a caprese salad. We have some summer tomatoes coming back now that it's cooler, but they will not be very big...hopefully tasty. What a great day!!!

Super Suppers [Sep. 23rd, 2006|07:14 pm]
[mood | chipper]

Amy, Laura and I went to Super Suppers and made six dinners to bring home and freeze. We had a really good time. They had free wine!! Laura now knows how to "braid". Neato. Amy had one dinner tonight and said it was really good. Since I cooked all afternoon, we're ordering a pizza for supper when Buddy gets home.

Also, we had a terrific thunderstorm with lots of lightening and electricity off. I really don't like not having electricity. Candles are nice for romantic, but they really suck when trying to read the paper. Plus, I seem to go from room to room flicking on the light switch. (I hope that's not an early sign of Alshimers.) Almost time to order the pizza. Gotta go.

It's been a while since I posted. My Dallas Cowboys FINALLY won a game!! YEA!! Himself had to gripe and grouse but they won anyway. I wonder what TO did to his hand. If he misses many more practices, I hope Parcels benches him for the year. I really don't think they need him anyway. I just wish Jerry Jones didn't think they did. I wish I had all the money he's wasted this year.

I had the surgery on my hand last Mon. and it went well. Still can't get it wet so showering and washing my hair has been not easy. (Plastic bag on right arm) I so glad it's over. The dr. said it would probably take a month to heal sufficiently to resume outdoor chores and yoga. I may go back to yoga and just not do the support my body with my hands dealies. I have so much to do!!

Next weekend, Amy and Laura and I are going to do the "food gathering thing with wine" I'm really looking forward to that. (Buddy is too)

Sewing project [Aug. 7th, 2006|03:39 pm]
[mood | hot]

I finished the sewing project last week. I was going to give it to a friend for Christmas, but it didn't turn out good enough for a Christmas present. So, we're going to lunch this week sometime and I'll give it to her as a whatever day we go surprise. The surprise is whether or not it will fit. I'm just not a sewer. However, being the forever optitmmist HA! (but bad speller) I'm going to try to make a lining with zipper for the purse I'm crocheting. I didn't kick the apron across the floor; however, I'm sure the lining will travel a lot. I don't know from zippers!!

I kept care of Amy's cats and Laura's cat while they were on vacation and screwed up with both houses. I'm pretty sure they will not ask me to sit again...esp. Amy. I'm really sorry Amy. It was partly Eldrick's fault for escaping and getting me rattled.

We are both (me and himself) in better moods today. The tree guy came and picked up the brush which was cut from our tree a couple of weeks ago. Our neighbors will be happier with us too I'll bet. But I'm not trusting anyone again when it comes to jobs and nice guys.. I sure wish it would rain. Laura was here yest. when it rained, and I went out and stood in it. Kept my clothes on though.

GRR - SEWING [Jul. 27th, 2006|03:44 pm]
[mood | frustrated]

I remember why I stopped sewing. I'M NOT GOOD AT READING INSTRUCTIONS!!! Actually, I'm only stuck on one part (so far) and if I can get this part right, I may be ok. I may have to wait until Amy comes back. I don't know anyone else who sews. It looks good so far, but now I'm stuck. So, I've started crocheting and knitting along with working my crossword puzzles and reading. I'm also refinishing some patio furniture (spray painting) but it's so hot out that I'm putting that on hold. I sure wish it would rain. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE. I told himself today that I'd love to smell rain on the hot cement. That smells so good. I'm feeling good right now which I guess is why I'm having all this energy.
